Holiday Leave during School Term Time

A Message from the headteacher:

While we understand the desire to spend time as a family, missing school can have a significant impact on your child’s education. Every day of school is crucial in ensuring that students make steady academic progress and participate fully in all aspects of school life. Holidays during term time mean that children miss out on important learning and experiences, which can be difficult to catch up on, even with extra support.

In line with government guidelines, St. David’s High School is required to monitor attendance closely. Absences due to holidays during term time will not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. Any requests for leave should be made in advance, and I must stress that unauthorised absences may result in penalties, including fines, being issued by the local authority.

We encourage you to plan family holidays during the designated school breaks to ensure minimal disruption to your child's education. A full calendar of term dates is available on our website, and I would be happy to assist with any queries you may have regarding this. If you need support or advice regarding attendance or any related concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are committed to working together with you to ensure that your child’s academic future is not compromised.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your ongoing support.
